The Fellowes Star A4 comb binder is an entry level binding machine, best for smaller documents where security is not an issue. I would not recommend it for high volume binding, but it is a cheap solution for users who only need an occasionally binder.
Another thing is that Fellowes binding combs are reusable, cheap and readily available. They also come in loads of colours and sizes, so are not only easy on the eye, but easy on the pocket as well!
Rexel LH240 A4 Pouch Laminator - Simple, effective and a bargain!
Reviewed by A1 Stores - Posted 25 Sep 2008
The Rexel LH240 A4 Pouch Laminator is a pretty good laminator at a fantastic price. It uses a variety of pouches from credit card size, all the way up to A4, and up to a maximum pouch thickness of 250 microns (2 x 125 micron). I should say that this Rexel laminator is very basic, and doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of some other laminating machines, but that’s what makes it all the more appealing, because for me the less buttons to press, means the fewer things that can go wrong. Basically the Rexel LH240 laminator is simple to use, gives a good quality finish and the pouches are cheap and readily available. What more could you want!
GBC C100 Coil Binder
Reviewed by A1 Stores - Posted 21 Aug 2008
Out of all the binders available, the GBC C100 Coil Office Binding Machine is one of the simplest to use. It’s got a good quality, strong, 12 sheet punch capacity, and instead of using the usual binding comb and wire, it uses binding coil. These simply thread through the pages and give a neat and tidy finish, without appearing cheap.
All in all, the GBC C100 Coil Binder provides a cheap and easy solution for people looking to bind documents up to 140 sheets, but do not want a binder that scrimps on quality!
The Olympus DS50 Digital Voice Recorder
Reviewed by A1 Stores - Posted 11 Nov 2008
There are digital voice recorders and there are “Digital Voice Recorders”. The Olympus DS50 is definitely one of the latter, as I will explain. As the name suggests, this digital voice recorder, digitally records your voice! But it doesn’t stop there, it also records other people’s voices and other sounds too, including birdsong, male voice choirs and even traffic! On a more serious note, this recorder does have five recording quality settings and comes complete with an omnidirectional stereo microphone, making it perfect for lecture or conference situations. It is voice activated and supports Podcast, audiobook, MP3, WMA and AA playback, so you can play your favourite tunes or books while on the move through the included stereo headphones. The Olympus DS50 also has a massive 1GB of memory, giving up to 275 hours recording! That’s more than 11 days! On top of all that, it has voice guidance, making it easy to use for the visually impaired, and has a nifty case and remote control all in the box. In conclusion, this is a great voice recorder for students and professionals alike, and it looks pretty cool as well!
Cyber Technology!
Reviewed by Peter - Posted 18 Aug 2008
Ignore the fact that it looks a bit like a Cyberman from Dr. Who and you will find that the DS40 is a very compact voice recorder high on features, long record times and boasts an excellent recording quality. For the visually impaired the DS40 comes into it's own, voice commands are spoken to the user, allowing for easy navigation through menus, options, settings and voice files. Designed with the backing of the The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) means that ergonomically it wins too as it easy to identify the controls through touch alone.
It Talks!

New to the assistive technology market the DS40 has been approved by the Royal Institute for the Blind (RNIB). All the menu options of the DS40 can be set so that they are spoken as you scroll through and enter different options, making it the ideal voice recorder for the partially sited or blind.
I like it!

Kept me cool in the summer, I have one sat on my desk at work, a bargain at the price! There are other cheap fans out there but the 3 speed function and a good build quality from Pifco means I can heartily recommend this fan to anyone!
LS10 Outstanding High Quality Recordings
Reviewed by A1Stores - Posted 03 Jul 2008
The quality of the recording of the Olympus LS10 is incredible! Unable to sleep with the noise of the birds singing their little heads off, I recorded the sound of the dawn chorus at 4.30 am one morning. Set to PCM mode and the Recording level set to max the resulting recording was incredible. The high quality stereo microphones captured the positioning of each bird call in incredible clarity with each call being easily identifiable along with the sounds of distant milk floats! Recording music is a breeze and sounds fantastic too as one of the options allows for studio reverb to be added to the played back sound. THe LS10 can also be used as a monitor or stereo mic. A must have for the serious recording enthusiast!
MFC6490CW – The World’s first A3 Colour Inkjet Multifunction Printer from Brother!
Reviewed by A1 Stores - Posted 17 Sep 2008
Brother has finally made the multifunction (MFC) machine we have all been waiting for, in the wireless network ready MFC6490CW.
This is the all in one solution for any office that doesn’t need the commitment, or cost, of a big A3 colour laser printer or copier, but does want a cost effective way of printing, scanning, copying and even faxing documents up to A3 size.
This Brother MFC costs about the same as most entry level A3 printers, but offers so much more. The features include a high resolution A3 scanner, a Super G3 fax machine, an A3 copier and an A3 photo printer.
As mentioned before, it is wireless network ready, but also comes with a photocapture centre, enabling the user to print directly from memory cards without the need for a PC, along with a large colour LCD display making it easy to use.
All in all, this MFC is a total bargain and does a great job. It’s cheap to buy and cheap to run with the high capacity ink cartridges it has available, and is also environmentally friendly, having been awarded Energy Star Compliancy and the prestigious Blue Angel Certificate. Buy one today!!!
The Brother MFC9840CDW, what more could you want!
Reviewed by A1 Stores - Posted 22 Aug 2008
If the wife was more like the Brother MFC9840CDW multifunction printer, arguments would be a thing of the past! Seriously though, this colour laser MFC from Brother does everything, and does it well! It’s a colour copier, colour scanner, colour printer and Super G3 fax, all in one tidy package. It’s network ready and wireless, and features a Pictbridge port, which not only enables you to print directly from most digital cameras, but also from USB data sticks! The Brother machine’s printer, copier, scanner and fax functions are all duplex enabled, and it uses high yield laser toner cartridges, making it environmentally friendly, while saving you time and money. The only drawback is that this MFC doesn’t do the cleaning, ironing or cooking...........but then again, neither does the Mrs!
Fellowes Powershred PS67CS – A tough cross cut shredder, destroys your documents, not your fingers!
Reviewed by A1 Stores - Posted 19 Sep 2008
I do like the Fellowes PS67CS office shredder, because it’s the perfect addition to any home office, or even just the security conscious home. It has Safe Sense technology, which shuts the shredder off when skin touches it, meaning the end of shredder related office injuries, and the start of shredder related baby toys. Well probably not, but you get the point. It shreds up to 8 sheets at a time and even has a sheet capacity guide so you don’t overload it. It shreds staples, paperclips and credit cards as well, so ruining your nails picking out those irritating staples is a thing of the past. Fellowes have really thought about their shredder design lately, and the innovative solutions they’ve come up with, help make this shredder stand out from the rest.
They say silence is golden, Fellowes say silence is the MS460CS Cross Cut Paper Shredder!
Reviewed by A1 Stores - Posted 18 Sep 2008
Well what can be said about the Fellowes MS460CS Cross Cut Paper Shredder, apart from that we were really impressed! Fellowes claim that this shredder will shred up to 10 sheets at a time, into 3998 bits each (security level 4), and it’s so quiet, all you'll hear is the crinkling of the paper. Sounded ridiculous to me, but then I tried to shred 10 sheets and what do you know, it was really quiet, all I could hear was the crinkling, and soon there were 3998 little pieces in the bin (well I didn’t actually count them but it looked about right to me!). Now I do enjoy a jigsaw, but even the most determined of jigsawers, AKA identity thieves, wouldn't stand a chance of putting back together that little lot! The only drawback with the Fellowes MS460CS Paper Shredder is that it is not made to handle massive shredding runs like some other shredders, but it will continuously shred for up to 12 minutes at a time, which gets through quite a lot of sheets, before it has to have a short break.
